Yellow Trail, Phase 2

Help the Noquemanon Trails Network continue work on this iconic and long awaited trail that crosses the Carp River and wraps around Marquette Mountain.

What We’re Building.

The Yellow Loop, aka Carp River Loop, is one of the four main loops making up the Marquette South Trails singletrack network. The finished loop will be 10-15 miles of intermediate to advanced trail showcasing the spectacular terrain of the Carp River Valley and Marquette Mountain. Approximately 4 miles of the loop have been completed and are already in regular use by hikers and mountain bikers including the Gorge-ous Trail, Off Grade Trail and the seasonal bridge across the Carp River. Our goal for 2017 is to complete Phase 2 of the project- 2-3 miles of new singletrack near Marquette Mountain that will be immediately accessible with connections off existing 2-track. The new trail will traverse rugged terrain providing a challenging trail experience and provide access to a rocky summit with great vistas of Marquette, Lake Superior and the surrounding wilderness.

Funds raised for this project will be used to pay for work crew labor, materials and signage.

Why it Matters

Marquette is a trail town. Trails define a large part of the area’s culture and are an important part of the lifestyle of a substantial segment of the local population. They are also a critical part of the local economy as recreational tourism continues to grow. We think it is important to keep our locals stoked on the trail system and to attract new and repeat visitors to the area.

Marquette has to continue to offer new trails that include variety in trail type, difficulty level and terrain. The Yellow Loop will help to check all these boxes as the Carp River Valley offers a spectacular range of beautiful terrain and the planned advanced intermediate cross country trail is a type that has been under represented in recent projects.
