City of Grand Ledge is a tax-exempt government organization, Tax ID 386004688.

The City of Grand Ledge has 13,700 feet of the Grand River running through the heart of our downtown. Nearly 70% of the Grand River is accessible from six of our 13 City parks, spectacular views are everywhere! While the Grand River is excellent for fishing, boating, and paddling, there are limited options for swimming within the city and in the summer, kids want to play in the water!

Jaycee Park is 5.92 acres of pristine park land, situated along the Grand River. The GL Splashpad will occupy an under-utilized area in the park offering visitors a Universally Accessible playground amenity. While the kids cool off with the dancing water spray features, parents and grandparents can relax along built-in bench seating or join them in the fun! Located at the southern end of Jaycee Park, the GL Splashpad will allow all visitors to splash around while enjoying other popular park activities like, Music in the Park, Movies in the Park, Farmers Market, and many more.

Who wants a splashpad? You do!

In 2013, the first drawing of an “improved” Jaycee Park emerged indicating the community’s desire for a splashpad. In 2016, via a Parks and Rec community-wide survey, improving Jaycee Park by providing handicap accessible features and adding a splashpad were noted hundreds of times.

We heard you! Let’s figure out how to cool these kids off!

With everyone contributing what they can ($5, $10, $100, $1,000, etc.) by September 4, 2017 we can meet the $33,333 funding goal and the most amazing thing will happen! The Michigan Economic Development Corporation and mParks Foundation will match that with $33,333 EACH, securing the $100,000 needed to install the city’s first ever splashpad AND first ever Universally Accessible park amenity!

  • Dancing water jets will span across an estimated 2,000 square feet of the city’s first Universally Accessible park feature and first splashpad
  • Water features for visitors of all ages and abilities to enjoy
    • Includes areas for young children, families, teens, and those young at heart
  • A concrete seating wall will provide a tremendous view of the splashpad, the park, and the Grand River
  • Additional handicap accessible parking will provide greater access
  • Jaycee Park is the premiere spot for families to enjoy fun events like Music in the Park, Movies in the Park, Farmers Market, and MANY other community events

The “one hand” press and play activator creates an on-demand experience that is not only easy to engage regardless of age or ability, it also conserves water.

Our goal is to create an opportunity for children of all ages and abilities to play alongside one another.

Hundreds of people come to Jaycee Park every Thursday evening from June through August for the free Music in the Park concert series. Saturday mornings bring the popular Farmers Market and Friday's in August are made for families with free Movies in the Park. On any given day Jaycee Park is a gracious host to those walking the Riverwalk Trail, enjoying a picnic, playing at the playground, fishing, boating, paddling, or enjoying the many festivals and events!

  • Did you know, parks that encourage physical activity and frequent use help to combat obesity and other chronic diseases?
  • While kids will come to the splashpad to cool off and have fun, we will be providing an ideal place for them to develop and maintain an active lifestyle.

Remember that summer we practically lived at the splashpad?”

“It sure was great that Grandma could take us to the splashpad this summer!”

In 2013, the Grand Ledge Parks and Recreation Commission created a Master Plan highlighting future improvements at Jaycee Park. One of the key elements of this plan was a splashpad! In 2016, respondents to a community-wide parks survey expressed their enthusiastic desire for a splashpad again and again. In addition, the respondents indicated a strong need for the addition of “handicap friendly playground features.” All of this community input was captured within the Michigan Department of Natural Resources approved, 2017-2021 Parks and Recreation Master Plan that guides the direction, goals, and ultimately the future of our parks!

  • Did you know that downtown communities with accessible water features in their parks report significant increase in the overall economic activity?
  • By donating to the GL Splashpad campaign, we have the strong potential to TRIPLE YOUR MONEY! If the City of Grand Ledge receives community donations of at least $33,333, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and mParks Foundation will EACH match that with $33,333; totaling $100,000 needed to build the splashpad! Your $10, $100, or $1,000 donation will turn into a $30, $300, or $3,000 donation!
  • Don’t forget…100% of your donation goes to the direct costs of the splashpad AND 100% of your donation is tax-deductible!
