Hand-crafted, wooden, book-filled benches made from reclaimed wood for neglected bus stops around the city. These benches not only promote present and future ridership, they also beautify the streetscape in a functional way that promotes: reading, book sharing, place making, and even deconstruction.
Who We Are
A group of current and past Wayne State students passionate about improving the quality of life for transit users in Detroit. We enjoy hard work and sitting down.We believe in psychogeography, and think we can positively impact the way people think about certain public places, namely - bus stops.
How You Can Help
Your donation could help build a durable bookshelf bench at a neglected bus stop in the city. This money goes into the deconstruction process, transportation, hardware, and future maintenence of the bench. Larger donations include more benches, choosing the location of the bench (per feasibility of the site), plaque made for Name/Company/Business, documentation of bench-building and installation, and small route adoptions.
