Building Vibrant Communities Across Massachusetts

MassDevelopment is excited to announce the creative funding program, Commonwealth Places, in partnership with the crowdfunding platform Patronicity to help improve public spaces around the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Applications to the Commonwealth Places program will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Grant awards will also be made on a rolling basis. In order to allow for review, feedback, and a full 60 days for crowdfunding, we suggest that your team submit an Expression of Interest form no later than December 15, 2019 and a Full Application no later than January 15, 2020. There is no guarantee that applications received after these dates can be processed for Fiscal Year 2020 funding.

About

Commonwealth Places, a collaborative initiative from MassDevelopment and Patronicity, is a crowdgranting challenge program to activate new or distressed public places and community spaces. The program is open to municipalities and nonprofits to improve low- and moderate-income communities in Massachusetts.

MassDevelopment works to stimulate economic growth across the Commonwealth to help create jobs, increase the number of housing units, revitalize urban environments, and improve quality of life.

This opportunity mobilizes community members, residents and general supporters to make individual contributions while promoting their efforts to others. Communities and non-profits can submit projects by applying for a Patronicity crowdfunding online donation campaign. Projects meeting fundraising goals can receive a matching grant from MassDevelopment of up to $50,000. To start an application, simply begin crafting a crowdfunding project page that is directed towards your community and potential donor audience.
